Self believe

Without all of the self-belief shown throughout the novel

‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell, the novel wouldn’t be the same. The novel is based on the Russian revolution, all the leaders believed in themselves and that’s what made them leaders. The farm and all it’s animal’s show self-belief a massive amount throughout the novel, this made self believe so memorable. Some more than others. Napolean especially when he was in a position of power just the same as Joseph Stalin. Although, not everyone on the farm had such strong self believe as Napolean like Boxer. Boxer believes in Napoleon more than himself. Self believe helps us do a great thing, but too much is a whole different story.

There is a fine line between reasonable self-belief and too much self-belief. The people that are big headed or ‘up themselves’ are always extremely memorable. Napoleon was overwhelmingly big headed. Causing the very memorable corruption of the farm. All his belief was in himself, so he had none left for anyone else.  He thought no one was better than him. Napoleon was a dictater Luckily for us Jacinda Ardern is not like Napolean at all, but she does have enough self-belief to be a great leader. Recently during the Christchurch Attacks, we saw Jacinda Ardern took charge of the horrible situation by quickly banning the type of guns involved in NZ showing a great example that she believes in the security and rights of her county as well as herself.

Lack of selfbelief is strongly shown in the character boxer. This causes him to commonly repeat the very memorable phrase ‘Napolean is always right’. No belief in himself is what this quote infers. Boxer was feeding Napoleon’s ego. I think that everyone will agree boxer was smarter than he gave himself credit for. Lodged in aminal farms readers memory lays that sad unforgettable story of boxers lack of self-belief holding back from greater things. A great leader boxer could’ve been even though he didn’t have the smartest of brains. He was kind and fair he knew what was best for the farm. His mind was the only thing that was holding him back.

Boring and flat is what the novel would be if it didn’t involve the aspect of self-belief. In our modern day society self-belief controls the person that you are going to become. If you believe you can achieve your dream it will most likely happen, but on the over hand, no self-belief will get you nowhere. Jacinda Ardern believed that she could become one of the few lady prime-minister in history and did she get there? She did! She would have never got there in she didn’t believe she could. All different perspectives and angles of self-belief throughout the novel make it memorable and interesting for the readers.

Believing in yourself is very important to achieve the thing you want to achieve. Although over believing in yourself (bigheaded) like Napoleon makes you very memorable to others and not in a good way. Boxers lack in self-believe held him back from doing great things if only he knew what he was capable of. Self-belief was an extremely memorable part of the novel animal farm. Self believe is something everyone should have, we all have a right to it.

HI Tamara,

You have some good ideas in your essay so far.

Be wary of your sentences. You need to use full stops more frequently. There are times when your sentences run on too long and need to cut up. Try reading it out loud. This should help you find the natural pauses in your work.

Remember to follow the SEXY structure. Statement at the beginning saying what the paragraph is about. Explain what your statement means. Provide an eXample that relates to your explanation. Discuss Your opinion talking about the author’s purpose, connections to outside the novel and link back to your statement.

Good strong connection between Napoleon and Ardern. You need to do more work on discussing the novel before making this connection though. Focus on answering both parts of the question.

Describe your memorable idea in the novel Animal Farm.
Explain HOW and WHY this idea is so memorable.

What does Orwell do to make this idea stand out so much? Think of his writing techniques. Things like personifications, metaphors and hyperbole are all apparent in the novel. Can you use some of these to highlight your idea?

Good work so far. Keep it up!
